Physician and surgeon, holding a specialization in Forensic Anthropology from Universidad Nacional de Colombia and a postgraduate diploma (diplomado) in Forensic Genetics. He brings a solid background in forensic sciences, technical-scientific investigation, and expert testimonial analysis applied to highly complex criminal matters.
His expertise encompasses crime scene management, drafting medico-legal reports, human identification, and participating in investigations concerning human rights violations, breaches of International Humanitarian Law, mass casualty events, massacres, and disasters. Additionally, he has conducted personal injury evaluations, clinical age determinations, and medical status assessments for legal expert purposes.
For thirteen years, he served within the Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalía General de la Nación), including seven years as National Head of the Crime Scene & Forensic Science Division (División de Criminalística). He subsequently served for nearly seven years at the Inspector General’s Office (Procuraduría General de la Nación) as Coordinator of the Human Rights Unit within the National Directorate of Special Investigations. Furthermore, he was the General Director of Colombia’s National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal y Ciencias Forenses) for eight years.
